2023 Oral Clinical Examination (OCE) Examiner Application Now Open
If you have never previously served as an ABPD volunteer and are interested in getting involved, the examiner application is open now through August 5, 2022.
The American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD) is now accepting applications for 2023 Oral Clinical Examination (OCE) examiners. Applications are only being requested from ABPD Diplomates who have never previously served as an examiner but meet the eligibility requirements below.
The 2023 Oral Clinical Examination will take place Monday-Friday, September 18 – 22, with a required examiner preparation day of Sunday, September 17. If invited to be an examiner in 2023, additional information about examination logistics will be provided at that time. Please note that limited spots are available for 2023. Applications will remain active on file with ABPD for five years. If you wish to remove your application from consideration at any time, please contact us.

ELIGIBILITY:
To be eligible to serve as an OCE Examiner a diplomate must be:

Board certified by ABPD for at least five years

An active AAPD member

Actively involved in direct patient care or clinical teaching of pediatric dentistry on a weekly basis
CONFLICT OF INTEREST:
If invited to be an examiner, an Associate Agreement that includes a conflict of interest disclosure will be required. Please take note of the points below and click here to read the full agreement.

ABPD associates are prohibited from participation in fee-based activities or ventures designed or marketed to assist individuals with ABPD examinations or the certification process during, and for a period of three years following service to ABPD. Individuals are prohibited from participation as an ABPD associate for a period of one year following participation in fee-based activities or ventures designed or marketed to assist individuals with ABPD examinations or the certification process

Examiners are required to provide a list of names of those individuals who have participated in mock examination or mentorship activities with the examiner for the previous three years. In addition to the review of candidates.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
The application is open and will close Friday, August 5, 2022. To apply, please log in to your ABPD profile. Under the “Things You Can Do” section on your dashboard, click on the link for the 2023 OCE Examiner Application.
The application will require two completed reference forms, one of which must be from a past or current ABPD or AAPD volunteer. ABPD Board of Directors and staff are not eligible to provide references.
If your completed application and references are not received by the deadline, your application will not be considered.
