It is with great honor that The American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD) announces the appointment of Dr. Vineet Dhar to the Board of Directors. Dr. Dhar's exceptional qualifications, extensive experience, and unwavering commitment to the field of pediatric dentistry render him an invaluable addition to the organization’s volunteer leadership.

The ABPD Board of Directors holds the critical responsibility of steering the organization by governing, developing policy, and setting strategic direction. Comprised of six directors, each serving a six-year term, the Board of Directors ensures that ABPD remains focused on promoting excellence in pediatric dentistry through its leadership and vision. Dr. Dhar’s appointment signifies a commitment to upholding and advancing these high standards.

Dr. Dhar has served ABPD in a volunteer capacity for almost a decade, first working as a consultant for the Oral Clinical Examination, then as a Part-Leader of the Qualifying Examination Committee, and most recently as a member of the Eligibility Period and Readiness for Initial Board Certification Task Force and the Grantmaking Committee. Dr. Dhar has served as an examiner for the Oral Clinical Examination in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2023.

Dr. Dhar also holds several significant roles at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in Baltimore, where he serves as the department chair of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry and the Assistant Dean of Postgraduate and Professional Studies. In these capacities, Dr. Dhar plays a crucial role in shaping the next generation of dental professionals, emphasizing the importance of evidence-based practices in both education and clinical care.

Beyond his responsibilities at the University of Maryland, Dr. Dhar is actively involved in several leading dental organizations. He is a valued member of the Editorial Board, Evidence Based Committee, and the Council on Scientific Affairs of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), where he contributes to the development of scientific policies and guidelines that shape the future of pediatric dental care. Additionally, he chairs the Science Committee of the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry (IAPD) and leads the Policy and Guidance subcommittee of the Council on Scientific Affairs at the American Dental Association (ADA). Dr. Dhar’s participation on expert panels has contributed to creating evidence-based clinical recommendations for the AAPD, IAPD, and ADA.

In his personal life, Dhar enjoys reading, listening to music, watching movies, and spending quality time with his wife Niki and daughters Riya and Suhaani.

In joining the Board of Directors for the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Dhar's primary goal is to steadfastly uphold and serve ABPD's noble mission.
